  1. How long have you had an interest in art?

I've always had an interest in art since I was very little, but I really got into it around the time I was 12. Around that time I was really into a lot of video games since I grew up with an older brother; that interest in games brought me to want to draw characters that I liked, and lead to the idea of pursuing it as a career choice.

  2. Where did you go to college and what is your favorite memory of school?

I went to Springfield Technical Community college my first 2 years, and then I transferred to Elms College. I have a lot of fond memories, but most of my favorite memories happened when we would all get together as a group and have gaming and movie nights in our computer lab till late hours of the night.

  3. What are your 3 top favorite table top games to play (non-electronic)

Mutants and Masterminds is really fun, and I also must admit I really have a guilty pleasure for a good game of Uno; but my all time favorite table top is definitely Dread.

  4. If you could have just one super power what would it be, and why?

If I had the choice to pick any super power I think I would have to pick the power to Fix/heal anything and everything. I'm super clumsy so I would never have to worry about breaking anything; plus if someone was hurt I would be able to fix them up easily!

  5. Where is (or would be) your favorite place to vacation?

I'm gonna sound like a huge nerd here, but I would really love to go to Japan. That dream might come true soon so fingers crossed!

  6. If you could meet any artist (past or present) who would it be and what would you hope to learn from meeting them?

There's quite a few artists I would love to meet, but keeping it down to 2 I would love to meet Tetsuya Nomura, and Hirohiko Araki.

Tetsuya Nomura is a concept designer for the video game company Square Enix and has been involved in many games like Final Fantasy and Kingdom hearts. He's one of the reasons I really got into art so just meeting him would be amazing. Hirohiko Araki is an artist I've gotten into more recently; he is the creator of the manga Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. Though the series is as bizarre as it's title, his artwork is breathtaking and very colorful, and I just can't get enough of his characters; I would love to sit down and discuss with him how he comes up with all of his crazy ideas.

  7. What is the process you go through to create a Pie Rat character?

Well first, when I have been given a character that I need to design; I need to come up with the concept first. (Sometimes I do some research beforehand, for example clothing.) So I start off with a rough sketch of the character, and that is usually my base. This is all done in a program called Paint Tool SAI, and I use a Wacom Intuos 4 pen and tablet to create the sketch. After I am done with the sketch, I move it into another program called Adobe Illustrator. This is where I create the final product, which involves using a tool called the Pen tool. This tool allows me to create the complex vector graphics you see on the cards.

  8. How did you end up working with the Wild East Game Company?

I met the owners of Wild East Game Company while I was at the PAX East convention in Boston MA. I was introduced through my professor from Elms college, and I just happened to have my portfolio with me. I have been happy to be a part of the team ever since.

  9. If you could go back in time and visit yourself when you were 10 what advice would you give yourself?

I think if I could go back and give myself some advice, it would probably be don't doubt yourself or look at your work negatively, but always strive to better yourself. I feel like a lot of younger artists get pressured and sometimes give up because of the competition. But if it's something you love you should just do it and have fun. I had a hard time grasping that idea when I was younger.

  10. Are there any lesser-known cool facts about you that you might like to share with us? (if yes, please share)

here are some silly facts about me:

    • I absolutely love to cosplay.
    • I collect anime/video game figures; I currently own 54.
    • I can play Guitar Hero and DDR on Expert.
    • Sailor moon was my favorite show when I was little, and still is one of my personal favorites
